In the comics the teams were split exactly as we have them in our game except that we've shifted Jubilee from the Blue team to the Reserve Team, and added in those mutants we have as main characters: such as Havok and Nate Grey.

In this game “Xavier’s Institute for Gifted Youngsters” is a full working school; there are child mutants present (see Xavier's Institute for their details), and if you a player wants to have their character 'teach' lessons then they can consult with the moderators..
Some of the X-Men are already teaching certain classes, these are: Professor X (a plethora of subjects incl. Literature, Mutant Studies) and Beast (all sciences), Storm (histoy), Iceman (Maths), Jean Grey (Psychology/Mutant Studies).

Jubilee and Shadowcat will still be students (yes this means we’ve messed with the timeline, but hey, Marvel do it all the time) and so not full X-Men yet, due to their experience though they will be on the Reserve team.

Jean and Scott will not be married at the time of the game starting, but, obviously, will be involved.
Jean has already come back from the dead, the Dark Phoenix thing is well past. When the Fantastic Four found her body in the ocean the original X-Men came together to form X-Factor.

Psylocke will be an English woman trapped in an Asian body, with a red tattoo over her eye. She and Archangel will have just started a relationship. They had already been interested in each other, but his part in retrieving the Crimson Dawn exliquir for her cemented this.

Rogue's name is not MARIE! It will still be un-revealed in the game. She and Gambit are well... kind of involved, as involved as they can be considering Rogue’s mutant power. They’ve not kissed, and so Gambit’s involvement in the Morlock Massacre isn’t known about.

Wolverine still has adamatium claws and has not had it all pulled out by Magneto. Therefore the whole Onslaught thing has not happened. He’s still called Logan, his memories are still shot to pieces and there is not indication that his actual name is James Howlett.

Bishop is a really new arrival, and is still getting used to the fact he's working with the X-Men.

Nightcrawler, although religious, is not trying to become a priest and is still very much the swashbuckling type.

Rachel Summers is preseumed dead, having gone into the future.
Cable is also around, but Jean and Scott are not aware of him.

Excalibur doesn’t really exist as a super hero team, but they are based on Muir Island, with Moira McTaggart (who is trying to find a cure for the Legacy Virus - but is not yet affected), as a bacup European team - these are: Banshee, Wolfsbane, Forge, and Multiple Man.

The Sentinels have been encountered; both Master Mold, and the Mark I and Mark II Sentinels have been fought. Both Bolivar and Larry Trask are dead, and no further activity has happened with the Sentinels in a long time. Anything relating to the Hellfire Club, the government, Dr Steven Lang, Bastion etc has not happened. The Sentinel plotline as far as the game is concerned stopped with the death of Larry Trask.

Senator Robert Kelly is a known politician with an angry stance against mutants, no attempts have been made on his life, nor has he made any plans to run for President. He is campaigning for a Mutant Registration Act, but this is in the early stages, obviously tensions regarding mutants are high and protests are regular occurrences.

The Hellfire Club still runs, and Emma Frost is their White Queen, her Boston Academy is still used to train her Hellions, but Gen X does not exist (most of that team are students at Westchester).

The Brotherhood of Evil mutants is led by Mystique, with the following members: Pyro, Avalanche, Blob, Toad, and Mastermind. Magneto is currently not involved with them and has not been seen in a while.

The Legacy Virus is out there, and it has already claimed the life of Revanche.

No one will have any knowledge of Nate Grey, this is due to him erasing the memory of him from everyone in the New York State, and so no one will have any flashes of inspiration as to who he is. Everything will be based on what he says, and scientific information revealed by The Beast’s tests.

There are no other X-Teams, save the psuedo Excalibur and Cable’s - which will probably be the Six Pack one. Other superheroes: the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Spiderman etc, are in existence.
