The main basement of the Institute appears normal, containing storage areas, a wine cellar, oil and water heaters, a laundry room, and auxillery generators. Also in the basement, hidden from prying eyes, are the computer's main memory systems and a secret passage way leading to the sub-basement levels. All the levels under the ground are limited to the X-Men and strictly authorised visitors. It is here under the mansion that the real heart of the X-Men's base beats most strongly.
